VIADUCT Harbour

Located at the glittering heart of Auckland’s central business district, "The Viaduct" is a bustling place to grab a bite to eat, set sail on the harbour or relax from a harbourside hotel room. The harbour itself is home to a huge array of yachts and charter boats which can be easily enjoyed on and off the water. Maungawhau Mt Eden

It’s been some 15,000 years since the last eruption of Maungawhau Mt Eden, and while it’s no longer an active volcano in the technical sense, it’s still very much a place of activity with visitors and locals regularly roaming its slopes. The maunga (mountain) has always been an important hub for the people living in this area, beginning from its time as a fortified Māori pā (village). Take a variety of paths around the mountain to explore the flat terraces carved into the sides of the mountain, and be sure to the climb to the summit for one of the best views of Auckland!

Rangitoto Island

Rangitoto Island, jutting from the sea and pointing towards the sky, is one of the most iconic landmarks in Auckland. This dormant volcano is home to an incredible summit track, historic baches (holiday homes) and the world's largest pōhutukawa forest. Being only a 25-minute ferry ride away from Auckland, it's easy to see why the summit track of Rangitoto is one of the most popular hikes in the region. This 1-2-hour hike will take you to the top of the island’s volcanic cone, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Ferry over in the morning and take the midday ferry for the ultimate half-day adventure!

The Matakana Coast

Fancy a wee road trip? The Matakana Coast is renowned as the ultimate getaway for foodies, beachgoers and holidaymakers – and is less than an hour's drive from the city.
