WE SHOWCASE MĀORI-OWNED TOURISM BUSINESSES

We showcase Māori-owned tourism businesses that offer unique opportunities to experience the people and place. Our aim is to connect visitors with the people, places, stories, and treasured pākihi Māori (Māori-owned businesses). We do this by featuring local Māori-owned businesses with visitor offerings and places of historical, natural, or cultural significance to Māori.

OUR TOHU TELLS THE STORY

Our brand identity has been crafted by Māori artist Isaac Reihana (Ngāpuhi), Graphic Designer at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited. The tohu (symbol) draws inspiration from the tukutuku panel — traditional lattice work — with the centre forming the design of the pātiki (flounder), a symbol of abundance, manaakitanga and hospitality. This tohu reflects the uniqueness, abundance and richness that weave together the places, people, and pākihi (businesses) that shape Māori tourism in Tāmaki Makaurau. Our name and design are in the process of being trademarked.
