The Superintendent's House on Rotoroa Island occupies a lovely spot with beautiful views across the Gulf and over to Coromandel. The house sleeps a maximum of 18 in bunk beds, there are four bedrooms, two shared bathrooms and four separate toilets, plus a large communal kitchen and lounge and outdoor area. Bathroom facilities in The Superintendent's House are shared (there are no ensuite rooms).
Pillows (but not slips) are provided; all other linen is BYO (sleeping bags, sheets, duvet and towels). Basic provisions such as tea, coffee, sugar and oil are provided; all other food and beverages you must bring yourself. It is fine to drink the tap water. Guests staying in The Superintendent's House are responsible for keeping the house clean and tidy.
Getting there Te huarahi ki reira
Rotoroa Island is a one-hour ferry ride from downtown Auckland. Guests can arrive by public ferry or private boat.
Local tip He tīwhiri mō te rohe
Be sure to bring your own food to the island. Rotoroa Island only has a small kiosk which sells ice creams and cold drinks.
