Hidden away in the lush Waitakere Ranges, the Kitekite Falls Path is an absolute must-do when in Piha. This walk offers an easy, gradual climb and plenty of breathtaking sights along the way. You can reach this spectacular 40-meters waterfall in more or less easy 30 minutes’ walk.
The route has been upgraded to protect the kauri trees from dieback disease and features formed gravel tracks and boardwalks, making it accessible for moderate fitness levels. As you make your way towards the falls, be sure to follow instructions, stay on the tracks and boardwalks, and avoid stream crossings after heavy rain.
Remember that mobile reception can be unreliable, so be sure to take a photo of the map at the start of the path. You may also want to bring a walking stick for extra support and pack a picnic and your camera for a memorable day of discovery at the magical Kitekite Falls. Respect the area and enjoy your adventure!
