Yoga Workshop Timetable

Location: Waihorotiu Room, Level 4, Aotea Centre


12pm - 12:55pm | Deepavali aur Deepawali


A brief history of Diwali as depicted in the Ramayan, followed by a short gentle contemporary yoga class matching breath to movement, and finishing with a tratak meditation using Diya (clay lamps).

 


1pm - 1:45pm | Yoga through the years


A dialogue based class exploring the evolution of yoga from asana as 'seat' (of meditation) to asana as 'poses' followed by short physical practices of both.

 


2pm - 2:30pm | Art of sitting


Traditional yoga practice of sitting in meditation together. 

 


3pm - 3:45pm | Aṣāgāsana


A dialogue on Patañjali's Eight-Limbed-Path of yoga and putting it into practice on and off the mat. 

 


4pm - 5pm | Yoga nidra


Explanation of each of the koshas (sheaths) and science behind the yoga of 'sleep' followed by a guided yoga nidra class.
