GETTING HERE

We encourage the use of public transport or alternatives like e-scooter, ride shares (taxi), cycling and walking, where possible.

BUS AND TRAIN

Aotea Square is located in the Auckland city centre,  a 15-minute walk from Britomart station and the Downtown Ferry Terminal. Kids aged 5-15 years travel free on weekends with a registered HOP card*.


Dreading the walk up Queen Street? Catch a complimentary rickshaw from the Britomart transport hub. Just look for the BNZ Rickshaw pick-up point and hop on for a free ride.


Regular bus services are also available to and from the city from locations across Auckland. Final services are generally between 11pm and 12am (midnight).




PARK AND RIDE

Parking restrictions and road closures will be in place, and with thousands expected to attend, the surrounding area will be busy with both vehicle traffic and pedestrians.


If you are driving to the festival, please note that the Civic car park will likely be at full capacity, and there will be queues on arrival and departure at nearby parking buildings during peak times of the festival. We recommend the use of alternative park-and-ride facilities around Auckland.


Accessible drop-off points and parking is located on Wakefield Street. The Civic Car park has 20 mobility car parks which will all be available as normal.

Arriving by bike? Roll right up to the gate for free VIP parking at Gate A, located on Queen St & Mayoral Dr. 


Managed by Bike Auckland, they will also be there to help register your bike to 529 Garage, an anti-theft and bike recovery database.

Yes, this is family-friendly event.

Yes, the festival is accessible. Accessible drop-off points and parking is located on Wakefield Street. The Civic Car park has 20 mobility car parks which will all be available as normal.   

The festival is predominantly accessible through paved pathways. Some of the entertainment and activations are on green fields with undulating terrain and kerbs, which may be difficult to manoeuvre over for some wheelchair users.  

BNZ Auckland Diwali Festival will be happening on Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 October from 12pm (midday) to 9pm.

Service dogs are welcome at BNZ Auckland Diwali Festival 2024, but pets may find the large crowds challenging. Please leave your pets at home.  

The BNZ Auckland Diwali Festival is a free event. No ticket is required to enter.

The naming rights partnership with BNZ is a first for the festival and a great example of how Tātaki Auckland Unlimited is working with the private sector to reduce the reliance on ratepayer funding, while still delivering world-class cultural experiences that inevitably make Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland a great place to live, work, and visit.

The festival comprises three action-packed performance zones: The Aotea Stage, The Street Zone, and The Queen Street Stage, all of which will offer an incredible line-up of vibrant and diverse performances throughout the day.

The festival menu will be serving traditional and contemporary Auckland Diwali food and beverages. Diwali food is all vegetarian, and there's an incredible spread of sweet and savoury options.

  • We aim to divert 70% of festival waste from landfill.  

  • Our volunteer eco warriors will be on site to help determine which bins waste should go into.  

  • We require 100% of food serve-ware at the festival to be recyclable or compostable.  

The BNZ Auckland Diwali Festival closes with a spectacular fireworks display on Sunday 20 October at 8:50pm. Traditionally, fireworks are part of the festival.
