Come and explore the fascinating history and charming atmosphere of Auckland's waterfront! Whether you're planning a family day out or a leisurely catch-up with friends, there's so much to see and experience on foot or by bike on this really easy loop.
Start your journey along Curran Street in Herne Bay, where you can easily find street parking or hop on nearby public transport. If you're looking for some family fun in the summer, head over to the Point Erin Pool, which features an outdoor pool, dive pool, hydro slides, spa, toddlers' pool, and family basketball court.
As you cross under the iconic Auckland Harbour Bridge, take a moment to admire the breathtaking harbour views along the Westhaven Promenade. This is also an excellent spot to catch a glimpse of the shimmering Vector lights on the bridge after dark.
Take a left-up Beaumont Street to visit Silo Park, a vibrant hub of events, including markets, outdoor movies, festivals, and more. The kids will love Daldy Street Park, which boasts a basketball court, playground, water play area, and an exhilarating 7.5m slide.
Further down Daldy Street, you can explore the community garden at the Dockline Tram Shed, savour fresh seafood at the Auckland Fish Market, or even tickle the ivories on the public piano in the blue container. Make sure to check out the beautiful Sounds of Sea (2009-2011, Company) and Wind Tree (1972, Michio Ihara) sculptures on North Wharf.
Afterward, relax and soak up the city view at Karanga Plaza. If you need to do a quick bike tune-up, don't worry - there's a bike fix-it stand conveniently located at the kiosk.
Lastly, continue over Te Wero Bridge to the Viaduct precinct, where you'll find an abundance of things to do and see, such as sampling delicious local restaurants and learning about New Zealand's seafaring history at the Maritime Museum.
It will take you around 2 hours to complete the full loop. Please note that this is a dog friendly walk.
