There are information boards and plaques with details about the arrival of the Settlers in 1847. At low tide midway along the beach the old piles from the 800 ft wharf built in 1895 can still be seen. A popular beach with locals and great for safe swimming. With good tidal movement you can walk out someway at low tide and at high tide the sea reaches right up to the wall. Views across to Waiheke and Pine Harbour/Beachlands. A popular place to kayak or SUP and explore the coastline.
Take a stroll up Beach Road and immediately into Marine Parade for amazing views back down to the beach and across the Hauraki Gulf to Waiheke, Rangitoto, Coromandel and the outer islands
Nearby Selwyn Road or Uxbridge Road will take you to Howick Village, its boutique shopping, cafes, restaurants and more.
