The PumpHouse Theatre

The PumpHouse Theatre in Takapuna is a beloved cultural institution nestled in the heart of Killarney Park on the shores of Lake Pupuke. The theatre also has a rich history and a resident ghostly presence in the form of Cicely Margaret (Peg) Escott. Her love of the dramatic arts and indefatigable tenacity led her to be involved with the saving and rebirth of the PumpHouse building as a theatre, and she was a founding member of the trust board. Her legacy lives on in the Peg Escott Green Room, which was built in her honour and where some people claim to have felt her presence.
