Built in 1910, Shed 10’s working days as a cargo shed are now long gone. The waterfront building is exactly as its name suggests – a giant industrial shed with numerals painted boldly at its entrance – but following extensive renovations, it’s become a popular event space brimming with character. The ground level retains its industrial bones, featuring a concrete floor, steel columns, and exposed beams, while the upper level is warmed by timber flooring and skylights.
As the last original building remaining on Auckland’s waterfront, Shed 10 has seen it all, from storing export goods to standing by Kiwis waving goodbye to troops in World War I. With a standing capacity of 5000 and seated capacity of 2000, it has hosted crowds for massive events including the America’s Cup and the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Inside, the century-old building becomes a hip venue for exhibitions, festivals, cooing musicians, special markets and dazzling galas. Its convenient location on Auckland’s waterfront offers stunning views of Waitematā Harbour and ensures it’s easily accessible by both public transport and car. Depending on the event, food and drink options are often available within the venue, but with the entire city centre’s culinary offerings on your plate, you’ll have plenty of options.
Shed 10 can be hired for private events, with various options available for catering, audio-visual equipment, and event coordination.

Local tip He tīwhiri mō te rohe
Due to its industrial nature, Shed 10 can be more susceptible to the outside temperature than a contemporary building. Layers are a smart choice!
