You can enter the path from lots of different points around Panmure Basin. Parking is on Peterson Road, Lagoon Drive, Ireland Road or Cove Lane. The path is also handy to the Panmure Train Station.
Take the kids for a swim at Lagoon Pool & Leisure Centre, located on Lagoon Drive. There is a main indoor and outdoor pool, as well as a hydro slide which operates on weekends. Children 16 and under swim free.
There are three playgrounds along the path, which are bound to keep the kids entertained.
If you’re looking for a physical challenge, try the fitness trail with 12 stations. You can also continue to Maungarei / Mt Wellington and climb the maunga (mountain). Exit the path via Cleary Road and head towards Maungarei, this will add an extra 30 minutes onto the walk.
The north-western side of the basin is home to the Panmure Lagoon Sailing Club. If you head along on the weekend, you might spot some of the sailors training on the water.
Getting around the basin during the Jubilee Bridge closure
During the closure you can start at Lagoon Drive and head north to walk around the basin to the bridge and back. If you want a short walk you can head south from Lagoon Drive and walk along the eastern edge of the basin.
