If you catch a train from Britomart, you'll be at the basin in no time, and you'll be fascinated to learn that this beautiful tidal lagoon was formed 85,000 years ago due to a volcanic eruption. Once you arrive, take a leisurely walk around the boardwalk, and even explore the scenic tree-lined streets of Meadowbank and Remuera. The 3.1-km loop trail is considered an easy route, perfect for anyone who wants to take their time and enjoy the surroundings. On average, it takes around 37 minutes to complete, and it's a popular spot for bird watching, running, and walking. You might even run into some friendly folks while you're out exploring!
As you make your way around the edge of the basin, you'll get to enjoy stunning views of the city, while taking in the local plant life along the way. The walk takes you across the Purewa arm of the basin, using the boardwalk and bridge, so you can soak up all the natural beauty that this place has to offer. And if you want to bring your furry friend along, that's great! Just make sure they're on a leash.
After your walk, why not treat yourself to a delicious and healthy snack from Bowl & Arrow or indulge in something sweet from Moustache? Sounds like a perfect day out, doesn't it?
