Perched at the edge of Rosedale Park, the brand-new National Hockey Centre offers an impressive base for some of the biggest field hockey teams in the country. With two FIH Global Elite-standard turfs, it’s fitting this is the training base for New Zealand's national hockey teams, the Vantage Black Sticks Men and Women.
Hockey fans can cheer from the covered stands that overlook Harbour 1 turf, with another 50 covered seats overlooking Harbour 2. With LED lighting across all four pitches, you'll see plenty of action even after the sun sets. On game days, warm up with a hot coffee or fuel up with some snacks from the café.
With five turfs in total, you’ll find two at the main centre and Harbour 5 just a short walk away, either across a beautiful walking bridge or via Jack Hinton Drive by car.
Getting there Te huarahi ki reira
The National Hockey Centre is 18-25 minutes by car from the city centre. There is plenty of parking, including 336 car parks located at the northern end at Gate A.
Local tip He tīwhiri mō te rohe
Want to see the centre in full swing? Winter evenings see the National Hockey Centre at its peak, sometimes with all five turfs in use.
