If you want to try something new, go to the Matakana Village Farmers Market, which is in the historic Matakana Village, north of Auckland, and is a really cute village with European vibes. It is a perfect place for those who love to try new foods, get fresh fruits and vegetables, and buy home-made products. It provides a relaxed atmosphere for walking around and looking at what is on offer.
The Matakana Village Farmers' Market is a true foodie's paradise with a focus on fresh, sustainable, and local artisan goods and a great place to shop locally on the Matakana Coast.
Bring your baskets or bags and load up on fresh vegetables, flowers, breads, deli delicacies, arts and crafts, and specialties from around New Zealand. There is a wide variety of food to try, including mouth-watering brunch dishes and award-winning coffee.
The market runs every Saturday from 8am until 1pm, rain or shine, year-round!
There is a playground for the kids and live music.
Stop by if you're in the neighbourhood, or plan and have breakfast at one of the many cafes along the way. There are plenty of small shops that sell local products and cafes to grab a bite to eat in the village.
Matakana Village Farmers' Market is only one hour away from Auckland CBD and is also a short drive to Omaha beach. So, if you want to make a day out of it, check out the markets in the morning and spend the rest of your day at the beach.
