Located in the heart of Auckland’s viaduct, Kura Gallery has been showcasing the works of Māori and New Zealand artists since 1998.
Owned and operated by Jude Dods and her son Ben Dods, Kura Gallery is a place where you can find unique and quality contemporary Māori and New Zealand art and design.
The gallery features a wide range of traditional and contemporary Māori carving, original artworks, innovative design, unique jewellery, furniture, and genuine pounamu or greenstone. The gallery believe in valuing the authenticity of works from Māori artists and operate as a licensed stockist for ‘Toi Iho’, the mark of authenticity and quality for Māori arts and crafts.
The word "Kura" has a modern translation of being precious or prestigious, which comes from the red feathers that were worn by Māori chiefs. The team at Kura Gallery, strive to embody the same level of prestige and reverence through their collection of art pieces.
