Hunua Falls Path

The Hunua Falls Path is a popular destination located in South East Auckland in the Hunua Ranges Regional Park, an area of stunning natural beauty that is renowned for its forest walks, picnic spots, and panoramic views. The path to the falls is a leisurely walk of about 15 minutes, making it suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. 

The Hunua Falls Path is a well-maintained trail that winds its way through the lush forest surrounding the waterfall. The highlight of the Hunua Falls Path is, of course, the waterfall itself. Hunua Falls is a 30-metre-high waterfall that plunges into the pool below. The waterfall is particularly spectacular after heavy rain, when the water cascades down the cliff face with great force. The water seems inviting, but it is not recommended swimming here. 

You can also walk to the falls upper lookout to enjoy the waterfall from the top. 

There are several picnic areas scattered throughout the park providing the perfect spots to enjoy a meal or snack. There is also a giant ‘photo frame’ which is pointing out to the waterfall where you can take an unforgettable photo.
