Fergs Kayaks has been operating since 1990 and was the pioneer of the hugely popular night kayaking trip to Rangitoto, which continues today with the same enthusiasm.

Enjoy the bay from a different perspective by hiring one of our kayaks or paddle boards. Alternatively, if you feel like staying dry we have rollerblades available for exploring the city's beautiful waterfront.

Our guided sea kayak tour to Rangitoto Island takes in the sunset atop one of Auckland’s most iconic landmarks. Less than 10 minutes from downtown Auckland, you’ll launch from our iconic Fergs Kayaks base on the water’s edge at Okahu Bay. Your paddling adventure to the island takes a little over an hour, once there, you will then have the opportunity to walk the summit track to view the sunset from the top, while on route taking in the amazing geology and flora on this unique dormant volcano. At the peak, you will enjoy 360-degree views of Auckland City, the inner harbour and islands of the Hauraki Gulf. On a clear evening, the sunset is breathtaking. A real highlight of this tour is paddling home under the stars with the lights of Auckland in the distance. It is a wonderfully serene way to end the day.

Take a guided tour to Browns Island (Motokorea), one of the most beautiful islands in the Waitemata with an impressive archaeological landscape. You’ll launch your adventure from St. Heliers beach, 20 minutes from downtown Auckland. Your paddling adventure to the Island takes around 45 minutes. Once there, your guide will lead you on a summit hike, taking in the amazing geology and fascinating history of this stunning dormant volcano. At the peak, you will enjoy views of east Auckland, islands of the Hauraki Gulf, and historic archaeological gems. The paddle home passes the sheltered cliffs of Gentleman’s Bay.
