Lighting up for Matariki Festival

Look out for the stunning light shows throughout the city, from the Harbour Bridge, to Sky Tower, to Silo Park and Aotea Square. Vector Lights on Auckland’s iconic Harbour Bridge is a vibrant light and sound show every Friday and Saturday night from sunset to midnight from various locations.

Reflective of the entrancing light display in the night sky, there are glittering light shows throughout the city:

  • Vector Lights for Matariki Festival – 11-19 July - includes dynamic light and sound show created by Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, with the theme of Ahi Kā roa (burning fires) centred on Tāmaki Makaurau's Harbour Bridge; the show lasts for 6 minutes and replays every 15 mins
  • Sky Tower – 11-17 July
  • Westfield Newmarket – 11-19 July
  • Te Ara I Whiti / The Lightpath – 11-19 July
  • Queen Street Lights• Auckland War Memorial Museum – 11-22 July (includes their own dynamic display)
