Whether you're an amateur artist, a student, or a professional, this is your chance to express your artistic flair through Rangoli, an Indian folk-art tradition. Draw stunning designs and stand a chance to win FreshChoice vouchers!
What to Expect:
🎨 Create a Rangoli Design
Join fellow artists to craft vibrant Rangoli designs using coloured chalk on the pavement at Aotea Square, in front of Grass Terrace 3. Participants will have one hour (1:00 pm – 2:00 pm) to complete their 90cm² chalk designs.
✨ What is Rangoli?
Rangoli is a beautiful Indian folk-art form where intricate patterns are drawn onto the ground. Traditionally, it’s made using coloured powders and embellished with materials like sand, rice, candles, or flower petals. The designs can range from simple geometric shapes to elaborate depictions of deities or flowers.
How to Participate:

The competition is open to artists aged 13 and over, and spaces are limited.

It’s a first-come, first-serve event, so be sure to arrive early! Registration will take place on Aotea Square, in front of Grass Terrace 3.

Coloured chalk will be provided onsite, and participants can use these to create their designs.
Prizes:
The winners will be announced at 2:15 pm on the day, with the following prizes up for grabs:

Aotea Square is located in the city centre, a 15-minute walk from Britomart station. If you're driving, affordable parking can be found in the Civic Car Park, directly beneath the square.
