Ambury Regional Park

Ambury Regional Park is a haven for nature and animal lovers. Located just 15 kilometres south of Auckland city on the shore of Manukau Harbour, this sprawling park is the perfect place to spend a day filled with fun, sun, and fresh air.  

Ambury is a working farm, so it’s popular with families keen to get up close to the animals. Keep an eye out for the adorable pigs, goats, chickens, sheep, cows, and beautiful peacocks. You can explore the farm and learn about the different animals, as well as how they are raised and cared for. 

For those looking for a scenic and peaceful walk, there are three different walks to take a stroll through the park: the Foreshore Walk, a 45minutes loop walk that crosses open pasture to the foreshore. It is a nice walk overlooking the water; the Lost Gardens Walk, a one-way walk to see the remnants of Māori stone mounds; and the popular Family Farm Walk, a 45minutes walk-through between animal enclosures that gives you a chance to get up close to the animals. 

Picnicking is another popular activity at Ambury Regional Park. The park offers several picnic and BBQ areas, each with their own unique charm and atmosphere. So don’t forget to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy a relaxing day in this beautiful park, surrounded by nature. 

The bird watching enthusiasts will keep busy trying to identify all the birds. There are more than 86 species of birds here including white-faced herons, oystercatchers, dotterels and more.
